Introduction
Established in 1963, our department is Taiwan's first industrial engineering department. Recognizing the profound changes in the industrial environment and the flourishing development of technology, the essence of industrial engineering was reconsidered to reflect new directions and positioning in the field for the new century. Since 2001, the department has been officially renamed the Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information. Currently, we have around 396 undergraduate students and nearly 111 graduate students (including master's, Executive Master of Health Administration, and doctoral programs).
We aim to cultivate students’ abilities in fundamental engineering, international communication, modern information technologies, cultural literacy, social concern, continuous learning, and knowledge innovation. Graduates are groomed to be proactive, communicative, problem-solving, and innovative leaders, expected to excel in industrial engineering, management, information systems and engineering, automated production, healthcare industries, and related fields as prominent figures in technology application, innovation, and management or outstanding researchers.
Teaching and Research Development Priorities
Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information (IEEI) is an emerging science that combines the fields of industrial engineering and management science. Industrial engineering in the new century not only retains the essence of basic industrial engineering but also emphasizes management and information applications. Two main areas of focus and curriculum planning in the Department are (1) Intelligent Design Production and (2) Intelligent Business Management. In addition to the close cooperation with Central industries in Taiwan, the curriculum also focuses on technologies development related to Industry 4.0, such as industrial robotics application, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and integrated production, in line with the trend of industrial globalization. Moreover, the Medical Engineering and Management area provides the Department and local medical institutions with a cross-disciplinary platform for collaborative research.
Prospects after Graduation
More than 6,000 alumni have been graduated and serve in the sectors of manufacturing industries (including semiconductor manufacturing, precision machining, TFT-LCD, LED, automobile, Solar Cells, PC-related, etc.), service industries (including logistics, hospitals, banking, human resources, hotels, etc.), educations, and government in the whole world.
