The
MIM Committee activity is devoted to promote the development of formal models,
both descriptive and prescriptive, of manufacturing systems, ranging from
simulation models (discrete-event and continuous ones, graphic simulation and
emulation) to optimization models and to knowledge-based ones, all oriented to
production management.
Technical
areas of interest include:
(a)
models of manufacturing operations in production as well as assembly units,
with the aim of designing architectures
for production activity control, process supervision, quality assurance and
maintenance;
(b)
models of manufacturing processes aiming at the design of procedures for
process planning, production planning and control, job and activity scheduling,
and logistics;
(c) models of
communication-based and Internet-based manufacturing operations and processes
with the aim of accomplishing the functions listed in (a) and (b). |
